Considerations for Rainwater Solutions

What you need to know when choosing a rainwater system.

Rainwater solutions are simple - take the water off your roof and send it where it needs to go. The factors that influence this are sometimes not so simple, which is why it is essential that your call to the experts (that's us!) is a vital part of your project management.

When choosing your rainwater solutions, bear in mind the following factors:

  • The correct spouting profile size and capacity, as well as downpipe diameter choices are vital if overflows are going to be eliminated.

  • Continuous bracketing holds the back of the gutter off the fascia, which means that in the extreme event of an overflow, water is kept away from the building exterior and able to run off the fascia.

  • A shift away from concealed gutter systems to external fixed spouting systems has resulted in the prevention of moisture ingress into the building envelope.

  • Changes have been made to the Building Code to stop open-end discharges onto upper level roofs.  A stop-end or downpipe with spreader is now required at every point to spread the water across the roof.

Many factors influence the absolute watertightness of buildings, but probably none more so than your choice of rainwater products.

“My company specialises in constructing high-end houses with the very highest attention to detail and, only work with sub-trades who are at the very top of their trade. I have been working alongside the team at Continuous for the last four years on some very detailed projects where the spouting and downpipes are a big feature of the home.  They are professional and transparent at every level - from sales and quoting to scheduling, installation and invoicing.  They know their products extremely well and always put forward ideas or a better way of doing something. I look forward to working with them on many more exciting projects in the future.”
